The National Business Aviation Association recently announced the recipients of a number of academic aviation awards and scholarships at the organization's annual meeting and convention. Scholarships and awards recognized students pursuing careers in independent business aviation, aircraft maintenance, aeronautical science and air traffic management, among other specializations.
Winners of the Lawrence Ginocchio Aviation Scholarship included LeTourneau University sophomore Whitney Brouer, an independent pilot and airframe and powerplant student with an interest in developing intelligent cockpit displays, and Travis Stallworth, an alumnus of Auburn University currently pursuing an MBA at the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
Some scholarships were awarded to exemplary undergraduate students in other fields in business aviation, and aeronautical engineering. The U.S. Aircraft Insurance Group's PDP Scholarship was awarded to an Embry-Riddle senior working on unmanned aircraft systems.
The USAIG is an insurance organization that provides term insurance for pilots and other pilot insurance policies through their team of underwriters with experience in the unique field of aviation. Many aviators also choose to employ pilot life insurance policies that can provide the necessary coverage the life insurance policy for the average citizen may not account for.
