Pilot cockpits are becoming more technologically advanced each day, as more and more companies are catering to mobile devices that help increase efficiency and safety in the general aviation community. EPIC recently announced that it has released the iGo EPIC application, which provides users with search functions to find the fuel prices at fixed-base operations in the EPIC FBO Network. “It was important to us to make sure the app we created would serve not just as a locator tool, but provide account specific pricing that our EPIC cardholders count on for their flight planning,” said John Nelson, EPIC chief products officer. Those EPIC cardholders will be given specific information on pricing at each FBO location, as well as quick access to Bravo Rewards information. The application is available at the iTunes store. Where2 Interactive released an application last month that gives pilots an interactive map of thousands of aviation events. The SocialFlight 2.0 application helps pilots navigate through various fly-ins, air shows, conventions, pancake breakfasts and safety seminars. In addition, app-users can add events to their profile, upload photos, receive notifications and send notices to friends. With new technology and communication, pilots are sure to stay safer while in the air. Nonetheless, it is always a good idea to obtain pilot life insurance.
