Flight app gets updated

Frequent flyers can now play pilot with a new iPhone app. The FlightView app allows consumers to track a flight's status, position and altitude. The updated FlightView app also features customized calendar integration.
Using a cell phone app to manage flights can be particularly helpful for those who travel and have to make connection flights. The technology enables passengers to see if their flight is on time and may be able to put off an extended wait time in the airport.
As FlightView CEO Mike Benjamin notes, "in the best of circumstances, air travel can be extremely stressful - especially when managing multiple flights and appointments."
As of this past summer, more than 40,000 people downloaded the FlightView app to their cell phone. The app is also available to Android, Blackberry and Palm users as well.
There are several other aviation-related apps people can download that aren't just for travelers. Several apps created by Garmin may be of particular interest to pilots as they have special mapping and navigation features. Downloaded weather information tools can be particularly helpful for pilots.
