This spring will be chalk full of air shows for the aviation enthusiast and one has just been added to the list. The Thunder in the Valley Air Show will be held on March 16 and 17 and advanced ticks have just gone on sale for $10 apiece, along with a $0.99 service charge. “In 2012, we partnered with AttendStar to offer the 24/7 accessibility of online ticket sales and received positive feedback from out-of-town attendees and Facebook fans,” said Phaedra Childers, event coordinator. “We're happy to offer that again and to add several new retail locations for the convenience of local residents.” Tickets are available through the air show's website, AttendStar or by scanning a QR code found on the various advertisements and posters for the air show. There will also be various local vendors selling tickets for $10. Childers said that the local vendors receive no commission for selling the tickets, so there is no extra incentive for them, expect for the support of children's charities. He added that while sponsors cover the cost of most of the events at the air show, the majority of ticket sales will go toward deserving children's organizations in the region. Military tickets are available for $8 and children under the age of six will get in for free. Ticket sales are $10 per day, so it is important to purchase two tickets if you are planning on attending both days of the event. The Thunder in the Valley Air Show has been around since 1997, featuring one of the largest outdoor family events in the Chattahoochee Valley. SUN 'n FUN fly-in and expo
The 2013 SUN 'n FUN International fly-in will be held from April 9 to 14 at Lakeland Linder Regional Airport in Lakeland, Florida for aviation enthusiasts looking for shows during spring. This year's event will again feature the United States Air Force Thunderbirds jet team. “SUN ‘n FUN is honored and excited that the world's most recognized military jet team – the U.S.A.F. Thunderbirds – has included our event on their 2013 schedule,” said SUN ‘n FUN President and Convention Chairman John Leenhouts. “Their participation will add to the aircraft and activities already being planned for this year's fly-in. We look forward to having the Thunderbirds here in Lakeland and know they will find the people and businesses throughout Lakeland, Polk County and central Florida to be avid enthusiasts and most hospitable hosts.” Before the spring flying season is in full swing, pilots should look into pilot life insurance.
