2 survive plane crash in Sheboygan County

A small plane recently crashed in Sheboygan County, Wisconsin, near Elkhart Lake but the pilot and his passenger were safe and able to leave the site unharmed.
The Sheboygan Press reported the pilot was from Brookfield, Wisconsin, and his passenger was from Wauwatosa. Flying at 2,500 feet, the plane's engine failed and the pilot had to land in a field. The two were on their way to Marquette, Michigan, when the accident occurred.
After trying different tactics to restart the engine, the pilot had to find a place to land.
"I saw a field but there were cows in it," the pilot told the source. "You don't want to hit a cow. So I saw another field beyond it but I had to clear a line of trees to get to it. We clipped the trees but made it."
But the pilot was not able to get the landing gear down in time and the vehicle skidded safely into the field near Highway MM and eventually stopped in a ravine. The plane suffered minor damage to its right wing and its nose, and the passengers were uninjured, the Chicago Tribune reported. Pilot insurance can take care of expenses associated with the plane's damage, and could have covered any medical complications with the passengers.
