Passenger unharmed after landing gear fails

A small plane was recently landing at Hilton Head Island Airport when its landing gear failed. The two passengers on board the plane were uninjured, but the malfunction could have resulted in costly repairs or medical bills. Pilot insurance can help safeguard pilots from these unexpected costs.
The Beaufort county Sheriff's Office told Island Packet that the wheels on the four-seat, Cessna 210 failed to deploy as the pilot approached the airport. While workers attended to the aircraft, the runway was closed for the remainder of the day. Luckily, no damage was found on the aircraft or the runway.
The report of a small plane crash that occurred in Iowa in September was recently updated by the National Transportation Safety Board. The report said the pilot, Robert Tompkins, had just taken off from the Le Mars Municipal Airport when a strong gust of wind forced the left wing of the single-engine plane to lower, the Chicago Tribune reported.
Further, the plane's ailerons became unresponsive, which is significant as these components help control some of the plane's movements. While the pilot tried to level the plane, it stalled and the aircraft plummeted into a corn field just west of the runway. The pilot of the plane was injured in the crash, and his plane was destroyed, the source reported.
