Fatal plane crashes scarcely leave survivors behind, particularly those in rough terrains. However, a recent plane crash in which the pilot passed away left behind a four-legged survivor.
According to AVweb, the fatal crash that occurred on Wednesday, April 27, in British Columbia lead to the death of the still unidentified pilot. However, days after the accident the pilot's dog Rusty has been discovered in the nearby forests of Yoho National Park.
The pilots Cessna 180 went down for unknown reasons in the park near Golden, B.C., and, when the wreckage was discovered, rescuers noted dog prints leading away from the scene and into the nearby wooded forests, according to the source.
Though the crew was unable to find the dog while searching, two days later, the border collie named Rusty was found by a Parks Canada employee and was taken to the Veterinarian, who found that the dog had sustained no injuries during the crash, the source reported.
Such a remarkable story of survival is rare, for both humans and animals. Aviation is risky, and pilots can prepare for those risks by having a pilot insurance policy, to provide financial support for those they would leave behind if they died during a plane accident.
