The Northern California Business Aviation Association and Global Aerospace will be sponsoring Safety Day that will focus on emergency response planning, challenges and post accident response in the small plane industry.
Safety Day was designed to to teach safety tips and strategies to people who are involved in the emergency response department of the aviation industry. The interactive seminar will include keynote speakers, professional advice and activities for participants. Pilot insurance is also another safety precaution all pilots should invest in to safeguard against emergencies and other accidents.
While Safety Day addressed how to manage emergencies in the sky, another program was launched to address scenarios on the ground. An aviation security training program was recently held in Alexandria, Virginia, attracting 45 law enforcement officials from all over the country. Aviation News reported the training was taught by Lawrence Gray, a retired captain of the Los Angeles World Airports Police Department. Gray spoke to law enforcement workers about new ways they can respond to security and emergency situations in airports.
According to the source, another speaker present at the training was a representative from the FBI's Reagan Washington National office, who discussed the agency's role in responding to a hijacking or other emergency scenarios.
