The Aero Club of New England recently announced it will be hosting its Winter Icebreaker Social at the Papa Razzi restaurant in Burlington, Massachusetts. The event is February 20 and will feature salvage expert Garry Kozak as a guest speaker. Kozak will enlighten the crowd on salvaging and present on the Sikorsky S-39 Amphibian, a plane lost in a remote lake in Alaska nearly 55 years ago. "This wonderful evening at the Papa Razzi in Burlington will provide you with the chance to enjoy some great food and fantastic company," reads the Aero Club website. "Our special guest speaker is Garry Kozak, a world renowned salvage expert, who will give his presentation on the last flying Sikorsky S-39 Amphibian." The Winter Icebreaker Social is $25 per person and reservations must be filled out by February 17 for a spot at the event. The cost of admission includes appetizers. For those looking for another event to attend John Leenhout, SUN ‘n FUN president and convention chairman said the Thunderbids will be performing at SUN 'n FUN's fly-in this year. “Their participation will add to the aircraft and activities already being planned for this year's fly-in," Leenhout said. We look forward to having the Thunderbirds here in Lakeland and know they will find the people and businesses throughout Lakeland, Polk County and central Florida to be avid enthusiasts and most hospitable hosts.” Any aviation fans looking to go on touring events into the spring might want to fly on in to Idaho May 17-18 for the Idaho Aviation Expo. The event will be hosted by the Idaho Falls Regional Airport and will feature vintage and new planes, maintenance and avionics, clubs associations and various speakers. The event is in its third year, after changing its name from Trade Show Aviation Idaho. Last year's turnout featured 37 exhibitors, with new aircraft from Aviat, Cessna, Hawker Beechcraft, Cirrus, Piper and Quest. Surrounding national landmarks are only one stop away for pilots heading to the show. Strategically located in SE Idaho, Aero Mark is a great quick turn or destination stop," reads the Aero Mark website, owner of the Idaho Falls fixed-base operation. "Close to Jackson Hole, Sun Valley and Yellowstone Park, we can welcome vacation travelers as well as business and ‘just for pleasure' aviators. Whether it's just a fuel stop or being based with us, we will show you real western hospitality." Pilots are also reminded to obtain pilot life insurance before the flying season gets in full swing.
