The P-51 Mustang, one of World War II's most iconic fighter planes, is set to make an appearance at the annual Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association Summit, held in Hartford, Connecticut, from September 22-24, according to the AOPA.
This particular P-51 Mustang, purchased by the Commemorative Air Force in 1970, has undergone restorations since 1980, and will be on display at the AOPA Summit to pay homage to the Tuskegee Airmen, who flew the fighter planes during the war.
Following the war, a number of ex-pilots formed the CAF, purchasing and restoring a Mustang in 1957 and subsequently dedicating themselves to the restoration of every model of aircraft flown during World War II. Today, the CAF has more than 60 different types of aircraft in its fleet, totaling at nearly 160 individual planes.
Whether you're flying antique military aircraft or the newest turbine model jets, pilots insurance is a critical component of your portfolio. A pilot's unique lifestyle calls for unique coverage that may not be afforded by standard life insurance policies.
