Community welcomes airplane home

An F-84 Thunderstreak fighter-bomber has returned to Thunderbird Park in Indian Springs, Nevada. The aircraft has been the center of the town since the 1970s.
The plane fell victim to vandalism and had to be refurbished. To commemorate the aircraft's return, the area's school band and choir was on hand.
Clark County Commissioner Larry Brown says the return of the airplane will help bring the community together.
"We've worked closely with the Clark County School District on this project to build a connection between the children of Indian Springs and the history of this aircraft," says Brown. "We're hoping the youth of the community will take an interest in preserving the plane and protecting it for future generations to enjoy and appreciate."
Clark County isn't alone in its adoration of aircraft. Many cities nationwide have devoted months to honoring airplanes and the aviation industry in general. Many people are employed because of the industry and many others rely on aircraft for travel purposes. Furthermore, everyone in the country is at least somewhat depending on aircraft that are used by the military for protection.
