July 2, 2012, 04:41 pm
The Penn Yan Flying Club is hosting its pancake breakfast on July 4. The author of the book The Rogue Aviator: In the Black Alleys of Aviation, titled under the pen name, Ace Abbott will be present at the event.
The book is a memoir of an aviation career that included a stint as an F-4 Phantom pilot, 10 years as a learjet private jet charter pilot flying and 22 years as captain of a Boeing 727 for various airlines. The author traveled to 44 countries in his 36 year career and the book is full of references and anecdotes from the various countries. Ace will be on hand for signing and the book will be available to buy.
The Pen Yan Flying Club Fly-in/Drive-in breakfast will be held at the organizations clubhouse no matter the weather. Patrons can see the arrival and departure of various aircraft and receive other entertainment through live music and exhibits. Plane and helicopter rides will also be available.
Another event, the 10th annual Duluth Homecoming, at the Duluth International Airport, features a trade show, social events and in depth symposia all geared toward the enjoyment of the aviation. For those serving the aviation industry and planning to attend these events, pilot life insurance is a good way to prepare for the future, no matter the flight conditions.
