Fantasy camp for aviation fans

Fantasy camps are becoming more popular throughout the United States, allowing adults to live out dreams they had as children but were unable to accomplish in the real world. While many adults pay for an experience mimicking life as a rock star or professional athlete, some adults would rather live a day in the life of a pilot.
According to The Associated Press, American Airlines recently launched a flight attendant academy, teaching participants how to work on an airplane and even respond to emergency and evacuation situations. Another adventure sold tickets to curious aviation enthusiasts eager to gain access to areas of a Boeing factory that would normally be off limits, such as the operations center and cockpit of the world's largest passenger jet. Rather than taking a plane to an exotic island or historic city, many aviation fans are making the airplane ride the focus of a vacation.
In addition, aviation enthusiasts are also hosting festivals to share their passion with the industry. Aviation Geek Fest 2012, for example, recently ended, after 70 people enjoyed live speeches, exhibits and activities centered on industry technology. A Boeing 747 Dreamliner took off from the site, while aviation groups shared history, videos and pictures of flights, planes, factories and other aspects of their business, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer reported.
