Arizona Governor Jan Brewer recently announced that January 15 is Aviation Day in the state.
Brewer is looking to honor the critical role aviation plays in Arizona, supporting the state's businesses, emergency responses, farms and overall economy.
SelenaShilad, executive director of the Alliance for Aviation Across America, thanked Governor Brewer for highlighting aviation's importance to the economy.
General aviation contributes an estimated $1.8 billion to the Arizona economy each year and supports nearly 10,000 jobs.
“Community airports are engines of growth and job creation in local economies, and general aviation is an enormous asset to businesses that use it, as studies have repeatedly shown,” said Ed Bolen, president and CEO of the National Business Aviation Association. “Across the country, business aviation supports 1.2 million jobs and generates $150 billion every year. We commend Governor Brewer for highlighting these benefits and look forward to working with her in the future.”
Ohio Governor John Kasichnamed December General Aviation Appreciation month for the state. General aviation contributes $5.5 billion to the state annually, while supporting law enforcement, fire fighting, medical providers, businesses and residents.
Pilots in the general aviation community are always reminded to obtain pilot life insurance.
