A report from the Savannah Morning News said that plane manufacturer Gulfstream saw improvements during the first quarter of this year. According to the Georgia paper, orders for the company's products were up after the industry faced difficulties tied to the recession. Jay Johnson, president and chief executive officer of the airplane manufacturer's parent company, said its aerospace section had a positive beginning to the year. "First quarter revenues are up 15 percent over the last quarter of 2009, and the G650 order book remains strong," Johnson said. "Aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul demand is good." The G650 is a new, high-speed business jet offered produced by Gulfstream. The company reported recently that the new plane completed load-limit testing, which is required by the Federal Aviation Administration and the European Aviation SafetyAgency. In another story from the paper, Gulfstream president Joe Lombardo said that the industry is shifting toward a more global outlook, as demands in continents such as Europe and Asia has seen growth of late. He said that since 2001, the number of its aircraft has grown to 160 in the former.
