February 20, 2013, 11:18 am

Jet Professionals recently announced that it has been in business for 30 years after starting out with just two people in Shelton, Connecticut in 1983.

The company was started by a pilot and his colleague and was bought by Jet Aviation in 1996. Since then, it has expanded internationally and increased services.

"Jet Aviation, a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics, was founded in Switzerland in 1967 and is one of the leading business aviation services companies in the world," reads the company's website. "Close to 5,000 employees cater to client needs from 26 airport facilities throughout Europe, the Middle East, Asia and North and South America. The company provides maintenance, completions and refurbishment, engineering, fixed base operations, along with aircraft management, charter services, aircraft sales and personnel services."

Jet Professionals will celebrate its 30th anniversary by launching a year-long campaign, with a unique logo, as well as launch a new website this spring. In addition, company officials noted that Jet Professionals plans to open offices in Germany and Singapore in 2013 to further increase its international presence.

Piper celebrated 75th anniversary in 2012
Piper Aircraft, along with the Piper Cub's, celebrated its 75th anniversary in 2012 at a customer fly-in in Vero Beach, Florida.

The event had various vendor exhibits, awards, and even a pancake breakfast. Companies sponsoring the event included Bendix King by Honeywell, Bose, Garmin International, SimCom Training Centers, DuPont, Jeppesen and Aviall.

According to Piper officials, the company ended 2012 with revenue up 13 percent when compared to 2011 and deliveries up 16 percent during the same period of time.

In addition, officials said that new aircraft sales reached more than $1.5 million in 2012, up  from more than $1.3 million in 2011, accounting for sales of 158 new aircraft.

"We stabilized the manufacturing and delivery of new aircraft throughout the year as our initiative to level-load factory production continued to meet with success," said Piper President and CEO Simon Caldecott. "At the same time, our overall aircraft deliveries rose faster than the rest of the industry. The company also met internal financial forecasts and continued working long-range product plans for the future."

The aviation industry as a whole saw revenue total $42 million during the fourth quarter of 2012, up 8 percent on a  year-over-year basis.

Going forward, aviation is expected to see a strong year in 2013 as pilots young and old fuel aviation sales. No matter what their age is, pilots are reminded to never take to the skies without pilot life insurance
