JFK teaching employees how to be nice

John F. Kennedy International airport is training some employees to be nice. The program N.I.C.E. will train about 30 JFK terminal 4 employees, who are all military veterans, to improve upon customer experience.

JFK implemented the program for some employees in 2009 but this is the first time it has been specifically geared towards veterans. Other airports have also implemented the program, trained by N.I.C.E. Corps, including Los Angeles Airport, that will utilizes employees skill sets through role playing.

The program will “use their keen observation skills from the military and their ability to work as a team to observe passengers who need assistance during their travels and assist them to increase customer service and satisfaction," the release said.

Air travel this summer flying season is forecasted to break records. A survey by Airlines for America reported 179.4 million passengers will fly domestically, and although that number is unchanged from last year, 26.8 million Americans are expected to fly internationally surpassing last year’s record of 26.3 million.
