Lamar Airport receives grant for runway

U.S. Senator Michael Bennet (D - Colo.) recently announced that the Lamar Municipal Airport in his state will receive a $550,485 from the Federal Aviation Administration.
The grant will help repair and maintain the airport’s runway, which reportedly is necessary to maintain the structural integrity of the pavement.
"This is an important tool for the airport and for the Lamar community," said Bennet. "It'll allow for much-needed repairs that will help keep the airport safe and reliable, which is essential to supporting economic development in the community."
This grant is a part of $3.35 billion apportioned to the Airport Improvement Program by the FAA Reauthorization Bill. This particular grant would be part of phase three of the Apron Rehab Project, which has been under way at Lamar for a couple years.
Elsewhere in the industry, Louisville International Airport recorded fewer travelers during May compared with the previous year. According to the Louisville Regional Airport Authority, May passenger volume for commercial flights was down 6.59 percent to 303,373 compared to 324,760 in May last year.
Although traffic might be down from last year, pilots are still taking to the skies meeting what’s left of the demand. Pilot life insurance is a good way to prepare a financial future.
