McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas is set to open the new 1.9 million square foot Terminal 3, which cost $2.4 billion, set to open June 28.
"Las Vegas is a city that's known for bold and daring architecture at its hotels," said Henry Harteveldt, a travel industry analyst at the Atmosphere Research Group. "You want your airport to be part of that experience. It's the first impression a traveler will have when they arrive."
The terminal will contain 14 gates and new technology, that would allow self-boarding capabilities at the gates and self-tagging for baggage at check-in. T3, as its been dubbed, will feature free Wi-Fi throughout and seven new restaurants and retail outlets, a duty-free shop and express spa.
For those who can’t wait to get to a casino, the airport will also have nearly 300 slot machines.
In a separate venture, the Federal Aviation Administration recently announced that five Vermont airports will each receive a portion of $1.2 million for repairs and enhancements.
For those providing services to these expanding airports, pilot life insurance is a viable option to ensuring peace of mind during the upcoming summer travel season.
