Many 'empty nesters' investing in Light Sports Aircraft

Light Sports Aircraft are becoming increasingly popular with older private pilots, despite frequently being associated with flight schools and student pilots, according to General Aviation News.
Individuals who previously had larger aircraft to accommodate their families are becoming more attracted to the smaller LSAs after their children have moved away from home. These "empty nesters" are becoming a new market for LSAs, which usually better suit their space and financial needs as they age.
Certain LSA makers are now targeting the group's newfound interest in the LSAs, as they are marketing models directly toward them.
One such aircraft is the TL3000 Sirius, which was reportedly designed specifically with empty nesters in mind. The aircraft combines certain features of larger Cessna aircraft which the pilot may be used to with the size and convenience of the LSA, according to the source.
Even empty nesters with older children should not fly without pilot insurance coverage. Though they may not have young children who would need financial assistance should they perish, life insurance for pilots can go toward assisting their spouse or covering end-of-life costs including funeral expenses and debt in the event a pilot becomes a casualty of a aviation accident.
