New airport in central Louisiana expected to cater to a small travel market

Alexandria International Airport in central Louisiana currently has three carriers flying in and out of its facilities: American Airlines' American Eagle, Continental Express and Delta Air Lines. The small airport does not cater to a large air travel market, but its does support a strong demand for flights from its modest consumer base.
In the 12 months ending June 30, 12,730 passengers flew out of AEX, a 7 percent increase from the year before, Alexandria news provider The Town Talk reported.
"You're a small but strong market," Michael Boyd, founder of BoydGroup International, told the source. "You're never going to get Southwest Airlines, but I don't see any downside to your air services at this point in time."
Similarly, a company in Dallas is hoping to target the local consumers with a new service to fly passengers above the city for a bird's eye view of the Christmas decorations. Pegasus News reported Starlight Flight's Christmas light tours take passengers on a safe and pleasant trip above the holiday lights in downtown Dallas.
The source reported the pilot is able to take up to three passengers per ride in a Cessna 172 single-engine plane, and coast at 1,500 feet for half hour or full hour tours of the city lights. After viewing the decorations, the pilot also passes over White Rock Lake if it is a clear night, so passengers can see the reflection of the moon on the lake's surface. If a pilot is interested in catering to a local market, he or she should invest in pilot insurance to protect against damages or medical needs resulting from a crash.
