General aviation is a huge industry, especially in the state of Ohio. Earlier this month, over 500 GA employees and 50 state and local officials met to discuss the importance of the industry to the community.
The General Aviation Manufacturers Association says that more than $5.5 billion is filtered into the state's economy from the GA industry. GA is a growing field and provides high-paying jobs for those in Ohio, according to president of Hartzell Propeller Joe Brown.
"GE has been active in business and general aviation for several decades, and 4,500 GE engines are in service in this aviation segment," said vice president and general manager of GE Aviation's Business and GA organization Brad Mottier. "More opportunities exist for GE to increase its presence in this segment with our engines and systems technology and GE is firmly committed to bringing our advanced technologies and world class services and support to business and general aviation operators."
U.S.Senator Sherrod Brown and representatives Steve Driehaus and Jean Schmidt also gave speeches in support of the industry, reports the Cincinnati Enquirer.
