The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office investigators recently identified the pilot and passenger who were killed in the single-engine plane crash discovered in the national wildlife refuge near the Everglades.
According to WPBF, Ryan Ruano and Sean McLeod were both from Bushnell, Florida, and were flying in Cirrus SR-22 that crashed into the marshy water. The two victims had rented the plane from Air Orlando Aviation at the Orlando Executive Airport. The National Transportation Safety Board still has not found a cause of the crash. In these types of incidents, owning a pilot life insurance policy can ensure surviving family members obtain the financial resources they need to cover important life expenses.
The Palm Beach Post reported that another Floridian is still coping with the loss of his wife and children who died in a plane crash 15 years ago. Joseph Townsend was a captain for U.S. Airways when the accident occurred. On a flight home to West Palm Beach, Townsend, his wife and their two daughters were in a four-seater plane that malfunctioned and crashed.
The source reported Townsend was in a coma for 10 days, but his wife and daughters did not survive. Townsend ended up spending five months in the hospital recovering from the incident, and will deal with a limp the rest of his life.
