The Sheltair Daytona 25th anniversary was celebrated during the 55th annual Daytona 500 this past weekend. The event featured a luau theme this year and event-goers celebrated with live music and entertainment, as well as food, beverages, raffles and giveaways. The celebration was held during the Daytona 500, as Sheltair Daytona is the gateway fixed base operation to Daytona International Speedway. Sheltair Daytona has been servicing the general aviation community at Daytona Beach International Airport since 1988, as the airport is just walking distance from the race. "We are so thrilled to be hosting this event that will coincide perfectly with the Daytona 500," Arvin Wees, Sheltair Daytona's general manager, said prior to the event. "Every year, we are well prepared and fully staffed to safely and efficiently handle the high volume of aircraft movements during 'speedweeks.' We take great pride in our superior safety record and excellent customer service delivery and this year we thought it would be fitting to celebrate and enhance the festivities for our guests during the event."Wings Over North Georgia to feature USAF Thunderbirds

"Only a few places in the country receive this honor, and I am proud to bring this opportunity to share the Thunderbirds with the people of Atlanta, Chattanooga, North Georgia, and Northeast Alabama."Event-goers will also be thrilled to know that in addition to seeing the Thunderbirds' six-man team and their signature F-16 Falcons, the U.S. Army's parachute demonstration team, the Silver Wings, will also be performing at the Wings Over North Georgia Air Show. Other events at the show include the Smoke-n-Thunder Auto Show, the Aerostars Aerobatic Flight team and the U.S. Air Force Heritage Flight Team.As the snow begins to melt and pilots are dusting off their aircraft and heading to aviation events in the near future, it is always a good idea to obtain pilot life insurance before taking to the skies.
