The Community Foundation of US Airways has awarded $325,000 in grants to four nonprofit organizations that provide services to the airline's hub.
The foundation looks to provide support based off three criteria: improving educational opportunities by teaching good study skills necessary for success in school and employment, programs to help provide humanity's basic needs, and give organizations that provide access to arts and culture organizations to encourage artistic excellence.
"US Airways is honored to support nonprofit organizations that focus on sustainable change and result in healthy, vibrant communities. It's our way of helping big dreams get off the ground to enrich and expand the lives of passengers and our communities," said Elise Eberwein, executive vice president of People, Communications and Public Affairs for US Airways.
US Airways was recently given the 2012 Aviation Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul of the Year Award from Aviation Week Overhaul & Maintenance magazine. The company was also among the 40 best employers for veterans.
US Airways employs more than 32,000 aviation professionals across the world throughout the aviation industry. For those flying in the front seat, pilot life insurance is a viable option in preparing for the future.
