Vermont Tech launches aviation program

Vermont Technical College recently unveiled a four-year degree program in aviation to cater to the growing number of college students looking to become a pilot.
Starting this fall, 15 students each year can enroll in courses leading to a bachelor's of science in professional pilot technology, as well as nine federal aviation certificates and ratings required to be hired as a professional pilot, the Burlington Free Press reported. Pilot insurance is also a valued tool pilots should invest in to protect against the unexpected.
The school worked on the curriculum for three and a half years, and is partnering with the Vermont Flight Academy to teach students how to fly. The program will prepare students for professions in the aviation industry and help meet a growing need for aviation experts in northern New England, the source reported.
Aviation students, professionals and enthusiasts can test their plane and flying knowledge on Michael's Aviation Blog. The online forum is featuring an aviation-themed quiz to enhance the aviation content on the site. The blog was created by Michael Moore to test aviation experts on a variety of topics. The goal is to encourage pilots and aviation professionals to keep learning new things about the jobs every day.
"Rules and regulations are basically the same, but even general aviation aircrafts have become so advanced that we must stay on top of our game at all times," Moore said.
