The 2012 Pacific Aviation Directors Workshop to be held in Guam will provide participants with an opportunity to strengthen partnerships in the aviation industry and collaborate on new projects and research. Representatives from the Federal Aviation Administration led a presentation at the event surrounding the importance of safety and security in the skies with technology and diligence.
Another way to remain safe in the skies is through investment in pilot insurance.
Guam is one of two jurisdictions that have safety compliance and FAA certification for its water rescue plan and wildlife hazard management plan.
"FAA officials from the Western Pacific region will be reviewing aviation technical operations, runway safety issues and enhancements," said Charles Ada, executive director of the AB Won Pat International Airport Authority.
FAA officials met with island airport managers and regional staff to discuss new safety technology and facility enhancement projects under development thanks to grants from the administration. The airports plan to install new navigational equipment, as well as replace aging infrastructure to improve airport operations.
