The EAA AirVenture's Young Eagles Celebrity Golf Classic, slated to be held this Wednesday, will be sponsored by companies like Club Glove, which manufactures and designs travel luggage, golf bags and accessories. Jeff Harold, private pilot and founder of Club Glove, said "Supporting the EAA Young Eagles is an investment to strengthen the aviation community, a valued market segment for Club Glove products. Our extremely lightweight, ultra-durable luggage is designed to perfectly mesh with the needs of pilots and is the preferred choice of commercial and recreational flyers." The Young Eagles Celebrity Golf Classic, annually held at the Oshkosh Country Club in Wisconsin, raises funds to help support programs for more than 80,000 youth pilots. Aviation and sports celebrities like Sean Tucker and Ken Griffey Jr. will participate in the competition. The golf tournament has been held since 1992. Over seven percent of the total active pilot population of the United States between the ages of 15 and 34 began their aviation careers as Young Eagles. 2010 saw a total of 1,384 flight accidents, a decrease from 1,474 in 2009. Fatalities resulting from crashes were also down from 474 to 453. Flying can be dangerous, and pilot life insurance protects the families of aviators and provides them with support should the unthinkable occur.
