In July, Jeppesen announced that the following eBooks were available through the Apple iBookstore: the Private Pilot Guided Flight Discovery manual, the A&P Technician General Airframe and Powerplant textbooks and reference books. Now the company has announced it is releasing its entire suite of pilot training textbooks as e-books.
“Having the complete collection of Jeppesen pilot training textbook and reference titles available on iPad as e-books eliminates cumbersome paper-based materials and enhances the learning experience through a more dynamic presentation of information,” said Julie Filucci, senior manager of Jeppesen Aviation Training Solutions.
The e-books will also help students train and complete their ground study process. In addition, e-readers provide other tools that books do not offer, including enhanced capabilities such as on-screen search, highlighting, hyper-linking, bookmarking, note taking and font size adjustment features.
Jeppesen is already looking ahead, planning to release more versions in the future and include embedded video, audio, animation and social media connection components, depending on device capabilities.
In a separate announcement pertaining to tools for pilots, Aviation Supplies & Academics release the Federal Aviation Administration's Instrument Flying Handbook, with chapters critical to operating a plane in instrument meteorological conditions.
Another tool for planning finances is pilot life insurance. Any pilots in the general aviation should consider purchasing the insurance if someone depends on them financially.
