Piper Aircraft and the Florida Institute of Technology recently announced that they have started the Piper Aviation Career Alliance to encourage and support opportunities for aviation graduates from the school.
Piper President and CEO Simon Caldecott said at the company's Fly-In in Vero Beach, Florida, that the Piper is excited to launch the Aviation Career Alliance during Piper's 75th birthday and 55th anniversary of becoming a Florida business. The Piper event featured more than 20 companies sponsoring activities that included a welcome reception, vendor exhibits, aircraft static display, customer awards, facility tours, a history lesson from Piper’s official historian, a Piper meet-up and a pancake breakfast.
The new alliance includes a five-year agreement that provides the Florida Institute of Technology with new Piper aircraft and career opportunities at Piper, including internships, scholarships, career interviews and mentoring.
“Our new career alliance with Piper will help our graduates secure employment in the aviation industry in airline operations, airport and airline management, and as flight crew members in varied, responsible positions within corporate and commercial aviation and government agencies,” said Kenneth Stackpoole, the Florida Institute of Technology’s vice president of aviation programs and dean. “In addition, we are looking forward to integrating the new Piper Archers with the G1000 avionics into our student training curriculum.”
Students young and old should consider pilot insurance upon entering the general aviation community because good pilots know it's better to be safe than sorry.
