Virgin Galactic spaceflights are growing in numbers

Virgin Galactic has signed up over 600 space adventurers for their upcoming suborbital spaceflights. The flights are hopefully to start in 2014. In a presentation to the Aero Club of Washington on August 13th, CEO George Whitesides states that ticket prices are now $250,000 apiece up from $200,000. He also said that the customer base has now become 60% foreign whereas previously half the customers were from the United States. Virgin is also considering expanding to Abu Dhabi which is the location of their financial partner Aabar Investments and is also considering a spaceport at Kiruna, Sweden.
