The Aviation Alliance recently debuted the Exalibur 421 with a remanufactured Cessna 421 airframe and Pratt & Whitney PT6A-135A turboprop engines. The airplane is the first business aircraft released by the company, coming at a good time as business travel is expected to increase substantially in the new year. “The Excalibur 421 is essentially a brand-new airplane,” said Jack Pelton, Aviation Alliance managing director of operations. “We own the PT6A STC, and we're already flying a prototype, which is proving that our aggressive performance goals are realistic and achievable. There's nothing flying that can come close to the value proposition and performance that we're offering." According to company officials, the Excalibur 421 is equipped with custom Garmin avionics and features all-new tires, brakes, de-icing, hydraulics and electrical systems. Pelton added that current 421 owners and operators who are considering a purchase of single- or twin-engine cabin-class turboprops will be particularly attracted to the Excalibur. Business travel to increase in 2013 Business travel is expected to increase in the new year, according to a recent survey conducted by Frequent Business Traveler magazine. A survey of 1,349 frequent business travelers showed that 33 percent indicated that they plan on traveling more in 2013 when compared to 2012. In addition, 50 percent said they planned on traveling more in 2013 compared to the last two years. The National Business Aviation Association will be hosting a Business Aviation Forum on February 28, encouraging anyone in the business aviation community to attend to network and help address issues within the industry. "NBAA's Business Aviation Regional Forums are day-long learning and peer networking venues designed to meet the needs of regional business aviation communities, and to provide an introduction to local leaders interested in learning more about the industry," reads the National Business Aviation Association website. "The Regional Forums incorporate exhibits, static displays of aircraft and education sessions into one-day events located across the country to help introduce business aviation to local officials and prospective owners and operators, and to help address the issues of the day in the regions." The NBAA said those who attend the Southern California career day on February 27 will be given a complementary pass to attend the Business Aviation Forum the following day. The career day event will feature information on how to pursue a career as a pilot, flight attendant, maintenance technician, operations specialist, dispatcher, finance, sales, accounting or marketing professional. Pilots in the business or general aviation communities are reminded to never take off without obtaining pilot life insurance.
