Flight Design names Florida dealers

January 24, 2013, 10:55 am

Flight Design recently announced that it has added two new dealers from Florida to sell its line of light sport aircraft, increasing the company's presence in the southern United States. Flight Design is a German-based company with more than 1,800 aircraft currently in the market.

Brian Boucher of Florida Light-Sport Aircraft is one new dealer, located in Daytona Beach. Boucher said that he is pleased to be inked as a new Flight Design dealer and already has pilots asking for demonstration flights. He also added that the Flight Design CTLSi was a part of the U.S. Aviation Expo in Florida on January 17-20.

Chris Menaiges and Tony Alvarez of Americana Aviation are the other new dealers, located in Miami. The company plans to mold their enterprise around Flight Design aircraft and will have the CTLSi and later sell the C4 four seater.

“We now have several CTLSi aircraft equipped with the Rotax 912iS engine in the USA and more en route from Germany,” said Flight Design USA President Tom Peghiny. “Early reports from our dealers across the country are a strong indication of the popularity we can expect from the CTLSi.”

Flight Design is not the only aircraft company authorizing dealers for their products. SkyQuest recently announced that they have made Quest Kodiak an authorized dealer at their locations around the world.

SkyQuest said the Kodiak is accommodating for humanitarian, sky dive, air ambulance and surveillance missions, particularly because it can land and take off on rough air strips.

Cirrus unveils new plane
Earlier this month, Cirrus Aircraft debuted its SR-Series plane featuring a greater load carrying capability for its SR22 and SR22T.

Todd Simmons, executive vice president of sales and marketing at Cirrus Aircraft, said the recent innovations by Cirrus make the aircraft safer, easier to fly, higher performing and more versatile.

"Given that record of design achievement, the number one request we receive from Cirrus owners and prospects is increased load carrying capability," Simmons said. "Today we are very excited to announce our fifth generation airplane, the 2013 Cirrus SR22 and SR22T, and deliver even more mission flexibility in the most preferred airplane in general aviation."

According to company officials, the gross weight of both planes has been increased by 3,600 pounds, allowing an extra person to fit on board the plane, more room for cargo and baggage and the ability to carry more fuel.

Pilots with their own planes are reminded to look into pilot life insurance to ensure their family's financial future is secure.
