Where2 Interactive recently launched its SocialFlight 2.0 application, which offers pilots an interactive map of thousands of aviation events. The company made the release of the application as it surpassed 10,000 users.
The application helps pilots navigate the various fly-ins, airshows, pancake breakfasts, conventions and FAA safety seminars offered throughout the year. The app also enables users to share their experiences, allowing them to add events, chat, upload photos, get email notifications and send event notices to their friends.
“We’re extremely excited at the rapid success of SocialFlight and the overwhelming response we have received from our users,” said Jason Clemens, one of SocialFlight’s founders. “We set out to create a free, universal tool that could show pilots all of the opportunities awaiting them on their next flying adventure. With SocialFlight 2.0, we’re taking the entire flying community to the next level by making it simple to find other pilots with common interests or aircraft, chat, share photos and organize attendance to the thousands of events in our database.”
The Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association released the latest addition to its FlyQ application for electronic devices in November. The FlyQ Electronic Flight Bag gives pilots pre- and in-flight planning tools, including airport directory information, aviation weather and flight planning.
Pilots purchasing helpful aviation tools should also look into pilot life insurance, as it is the only tool that will provide for loved ones in the event of an emergency.
