Pilots know the importance weather conditions can play in their flight plans. Good weather conditions are crucial to a safe time in the sky. Being aware of a storm in advance can help a pilot replan their route.
The Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association says that nearly half of all accidents involve heavy winds during takeoff or landing. They also say that a large number of accidents occur between 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on the weekends, the most common time for leisurely flights.
To help with travel plans, Baron Services recently released Baron QuikLink, a subscription service that provides weather information for the continental United States and southern Canada.
"We see Baron QuikLink as the perfect pre-flight planning weather tool," said Bob Baron, president and CEO of Baron Services. "Pilots wanted an accurate weather system that would be convenient, flexible and affordable - with Baron QuikLink, we are bringing pilots all three."
Using some sort of service to better gauge weather conditions can result in better, safer flights for pilots and their passengers.
