Emergency water training offered

Pilot insurance could help many aviators and their families in the event of unexpected circumstances, but airmen should also be prepared in the event of an emergency water landing. Survival training is currently being offered to educate more pilots on these situations. Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University recently joined Antipodean Aviation of Australia to give survival training in emergency water landings to pilots who navigate fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircrafts. Once the program is started, the participants have 30 days to complete an online course based on theory. After going through the online course, they receive one day of practical training in the pool at the university's Prescott Campus. The course is $750 a person and gives participants the option between aircraft ditching, escape and survival or the same course with emergency breathing systems included. Airline workers recently criticized the Transportation Security Administration's new policy on small knives, which could also compromise passenger safety. According to labor groups representing airline workers, the TSA disregarded passenger safety that has allowed relaxed carry-on restrictions. Considering the many dangers present, passengers and pilots should make sure they secure insurance.
