Boeing recently got the thumbs-up from the Federal Aviation Administration to begin administering flight training for its 787 Dreamliner airplane.
According to Boeing, pilots can be trained to fly the aircraft in less than a month. Those who fly the 777 model are most likely to complete training within in five days as the models are very similar in terms of operation. Those with less experience may require upwards of 20 days to learn how to properly operate the equipment.
Boeing director of simulator services and 787 training program Mark Albert says that gaining approval from the FAA is a big step.
"Gaining FAA approval for our courses is a significant milestone as we ramp up to the start of flight training," said Albert. "It validates our approach to provide world-class training solutions at great value for the 787 Dreamliner."
Boeing's 787 was made with some environmental improvements. The aircraft is suppose to be 8 percent more fuel-efficient thanmost other aircraft. Airplanes in particular have been noted for their large fuel consumption and environmental impact.
