A stunt pilot from Boise, Idaho, recently escaped a scary situation when his acrobatic biplane experienced a structural failure in the middle of a maneuver, according to KBOI TV. The pilot, who was practicing stunts near Greenleaf, Idaho, managed to direct his plane to an uninhabited area before ejecting.
Officials said the aircraft, which was based out of nearby Caldwell Airport, was completely destroyed, and that it partially damaged the irrigation system in the alfalfa field where it crashed, but luckily, no one was hurt.
The pilot, whose name has not been released, was the only person in the plane and escaped without injury after deploying his parachute. The Federal Aviation Administration is reportedly investigating the crash.
Knowing safety procedures in the event of an emergency like this is key to operating an airplane responsibly. Pilots often consider a comprehensive pilot insurance plan. Many pilot insurance plans are offered through pilot and aviation organizations that can provide discounted group rates and coverage that specifically assists pilots and flight engineers.
