Security measures face scrutiny

With a busy holiday travel season getting underway, there has been increased scrutiny on security measures at airports. Travelers aren't the only ones subjected to pat-downs and screening machines. Until recently, pilots and flight attendants have to pass security through security as well.
Flight attendants recently met with Transportation Security Administration head John Pistole to discuss alternative screening measures for flight crew members. A system called Crew Pass identifies crew members and allows them to more easily go through security based on employment status.
Association of Flight Attendants incoming president Veda Shook says airlines can gain insight on screening measures from one another.
"Alaska Airlines is in the process of working towards implementing an alternative system of security screening for flight attendants and pilots," says Shook. "The program highlights the importance of all crew members working as a security team for the safety of the crew and traveling public. Alaska Airlines' program can serve as a model for the rest of the aviation industry."
Given the real security threat those on airplanes face, life insurance for pilots should be purchased to provide financial security for loved ones.
