Airline awards tickets to contest winner

Continental Airlines and Adelante! U.S. Education Leadership Fund recently announced the winner of their essay/video contest for Hispanic college students. The contest asked college students to discuss the impact of Latin American culture on Americans.
The Destino: Latinoamerica winner receives four Continental Airlines tickets. The airline also provides transportation for Adelante! scholarship winners to attend a leadership institute.
Latin America and U.S. Latino market Continental Airlines public relations manager Maria Cristina Osorio says they are pleased to partern with Adelante!
"Destino: Latinoamerica helps makes a connection between today's Latino college students and their Latin American roots," says Osorio. "We are pleased to work with Adelante! as they prepare Hispanics for leadership positions in a multicultural society."
This year's winner is Yajaira De La Espada, who is studying at the University of Texas at San Antonio. Her essaydiscussed Latin Americans in numerous sectors of American life, including science and entertainment.
The number of those with Hispanic ethnicity continues to climb in the U.S. There were 44.3 million Hispanics in the U.S. in 2006, according to data from the U.S. Census Bureau.
