JetBlue Airways was recently been named in InformationWeek500's annual listings. The list highlights companies for their technological innovation.
This is the first time JetBlue has been named to the listings. The airline's recent change to their loyalty program and transition to Sabre customer sales platform during the first quarter of the year helped them be recognized for technology.
InformationWeek has been recognizing company innovations for the past 22 years. Editor-in-chief Rob Preston says the big focus in IT now is on producing growth and revenue. InformationWeek also emphasized corporations where IT was used to foster customer relations, something JetBlue has long aimed to do.
"At JetBlue, it is not just about technology innovation, it is about business enablement through technology," says JetBlue CIO Joe Eng. "How we as JetBlue drive our business strategy and transformation forward and that how technology is a key part of making that happen."
This isn't the first big reason for the airline to celebrate. This year also marks JetBlue's 10th anniversary. JetBlue CEO Dave Barger attributes the company's success to being a "customer service company that happens to fly airplanes."
