Aviation groups expanding

April 9, 2012, 09:59 am

AJ Walter Aviation substantially increased its investment in the Americas with a significant uptick in service-ready Boeing and Airbus inventory held onshore in North America at its facilities in Miami and Los Angeles. The group's inventory is supported by extensive replenishment from global AJW inventory hubs and will be separated from AJ Walter in the Inventory Locator Services system initially.

The expansion is part of the company's commitment to increase onshore inventory levels in Miami and across North America. The company is investing more than $50 million in parts to support the growth in the region after doubling its business over the past 12 months. The company is working to provide more flexible and innovative solutions tailored to clients' operational requirements, Aviation Pros reported.

"This substantial increase in stock held with us in Miami supports the growing number of contracts we are winning in the Americas," said Angela Garber, regional vice president of sales in North America. "AJW's continued investment in the region reinforces the Company's commitment to expansion of integrated aviation support services across the Americas."

AJW has locations in London, Dubai, Singapore and inventory hubs in Europe and North America. The company also offers extensive engine management, sale, lease and parts supply services and flexible integrated consumables services for its many customers with the expansion, Aviation Pros reported.

The San Jose City Council is also planning on increasing its aviation services. The council recently agreed to increase revenue at the Mineta San Jose International Airport by opening up the west side of the airport to more corporate jet business, Mercury News reported.

The new general aviation business will take up 44 acres of land, and the airport will also lease about 15.5 acres of land for a variety of aviation services such as professional sports jet center or full-service corporate jet center, Mercury reported.

Atlantic Aviation is San Jose airport's first full-service corporate jet center, but Signature Flight Support is also interested in establishing a jet center at the airport as well. The expansion was approved after San Jose was unable to increase its passenger numbers by 2 percent in the fiscal year 2011-2012 as was projected. Adding business jet capabilities will attract a new customer demographic, Mercury News reported.

Another way to ensure continued success in aviation is to invest in pilot insurance to keep the skies safer.
