Aviation industry prediction for 2012

As 2011 comes to a close, many industry experts are starting to look ahead to see what trends in aviation might emerge in 2012. One prediction is that the use of commercial passenger planes will start to decline in response to a rise in a new generation of jumbo jet planes.
In early 2012 Boeing is expected to release its first 747-8 Intercontinental jumbo jet, a new generation of passenger-flying planes, CNET reported. If these aircrafts are successful, there will be increased innovation in the development of these planes, and less attention paid to iconic commercial planes.
In addition, the source predicts there will also be an increase in capital investment in new projects in the private space industry such as the Stratolaunch, which will stem from the aviation industry.
Some local aviation market experts expect 2012 to be a profitable year for the industry, similar to 2011. The Wichita Business Journal reported that the Wichita aviation industry experienced unprecedented demand for commercial planes that spurred the local market, despite cutbacks on defense spending.
