Aviation museum awarded travel and tourism grant

The Wildwood Aviation Museum in Cape May Airport in New Jersey recently announced it will receive a grant from the New Jersey Department of State, Division of Travel and Tourism. The $20,000 grant will be used to help promote the museum and encourage interest in the aviation industry throughout the state and from visitors.
Working with the Division of Travel and Tourism, the museum hopes to attract travelers to its exhibits, while promoting arts, cultural, recreational and leisure activities throughout New Jersey.
The museum will use the money to create marketing campaigns targeting Atlantic tourists and guests from Canada. The museum plans to leverage social media and digital communications to create awareness of its offerings and engage travelers in the local sites, as the internet is used in 90 percent of travel plans.
Similarly, the National Naval Aviation Museum at the Naval Air Station Pensacola in Florida is also marketing to tourists, in an effort to promote interest in aviation and military technology. The museum was created in 1962 and is the largest Naval Aviation museum in the world. The facility houses more than 150 restored plans from the Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard.
In addition, the museum puts on a Blue Angels performance every Tuesday and Wednesday morning between March and November, when the pilots are practicing at the nearby base. The museum also offers a 15-passenger Motion-Based Flight Simulator to give visitors an idea of what it really feels like to fly a plane.
Most aviation museums teach about the technology and skills required to fly a plane. But pilots should also be covered with pilot insurance in case of an accident.
