Small airlines going international

Sonny Berry launched a charter air service with a small two-engine plane nearly 30 years ago, and now his company, Berry Aviation, now conducts business operations all over the world.
The Austin Business Journal reported the carrier plans to continue to expand in 2012 to take on more government contracts, enlarge its consumer base in the United States and take on private clients from a variety of industries. The company is based out of San Marcos, Texas, but extends its reach across the globe. Berry plans to leverage the company's $20 million in capital to build a presence in emerging markets such as Africa.
Another carrier launching new domestic and international flights as part of its expansion is Peach Aviation. The airline plans to add five new domestic and international routes to its offerings in March, as the company builds a presence in the global aviation market, the Mainichi Daily News reported. The budget airline offers customers flights to popular destinations at discounts up to 50 percent off.
While airlines are expanding, they must still focus on the fundamentals of a solid aviation business including investment in pilot insurance.
