The effects of the earthquake that ruined Haiti and shattered many lives earlier this year can still be felt. Aircraft company Boeing its doing their part to help provide financial assistance to rebuild Haiti.
Boeing recently donated $900,000 to help reconstruct the country's public education system. Boeing chairman, president and CEO Jim McNerney says that he believes education is key to rebuilding any community.
"We hope our contribution will help ease the Haitian government's enormous task of rebuilding schools and training classroom teachers," said McNerney. "Few things are more important to a country and its people's future success than an accessible public education system."
Earlier this year, Boeing donated $1.3 million to the American Red Cross to help send immediate relief to the torn nation. The combined $2.2 million comes from contribution efforts made by Boeing and its employees.
Such funds should be particularly welcomed by Haiti. CNN reports that many donors who said that they would provide financial aid to the country have yet to do so. They say that only Brazil, Norway, Estonia and Australia have delivered on their earlier pledges.
