L.J. Aviation, a family-owned charter aviation firm, recently found success by being meticulous with every flight, preparation and business operation. The Kilkeary family flies customers all over the world, manages aircrafts for corporations and wealthy individuals, and employs around 120 people. The company reported growth and profits as a result of striving for perfection.
Pittsburgh Live reported the main concern for the company is to do everything perfectly, including the maintenance, the cleaning of multimillion dollar airplanes, and keeping all facilities spotless. Perfection extends to flying safely as well. The owner reported the company has flown without an accident for 24,000 hours over the past 31 years, combating a variety of weather conditions. The company also invests in pilot insurance to make sure all aspects of the company are protected financially.
The source reported the charter company received the Governor's Award for Safety Excellence for implementing a safety management system to reduce risks associated with flying and incidents on ground operations. In the past five years, the company has reported no workplace injuries. It has also been awarded the Diamond Award, the most prestigious maintenance award from the Federal Aviation Administration.
The Associated Press reported the airport in Monroe County, Illinois, has already begun to prepare for extra traffic it expects to receive when Indianapolis plays host to the Super Bowl on February 5. All flights coming into the airport for the sporting event will be charged extra fees to help the airport handle the increase in volume. Repeat flyers who use the airport more frequently, however, will not be charged.
