Plans for the new Whiting Aviation Park in Santa Rosa, Florida, are ready, and the Santa Rosa Economic Development Council is actively working on attracting aerospace and defense companies to invest in the airfield project. Included in the aviation park's master plan are renderings for potential build-outs to go along with the park, such as corporate offices, a hangar, taxiway and a tarmac.
The Whiting Aviation Park is located between two military bases, and the new plans aim to give Northwest Florida an advantage in the recruitment of aviation and defense partnerships throughout the state, the Santa Rosa Press Gazette reported. The developers plan to capitalize on the park's unique infrastructure, including marketing features associated with being located on heavy industrial zoned property, adjacent to a state-protected forest.
Wings Field in Lower Moreland, Pennsylvania, is also making changes in an effort to make private aviation services more accessible to the general public. The Lower Moreland Patch reported air travel is becoming more crowded for passengers, and the goal of the airfield's upgrades is to encourage the use of private flights for everyday consumers. Wings Field is rebranding itself as a no-hassle alternative to commercial airlines, allowing middle class travelers to take a private flight from the airport without absorbing a heavy financial burden. The airfield will attract consumers with specials, safety features and assurance that pilot insurance is used by all pilots at the airport.
