Delta to offer service at Heathrow Airport

Some Delta Airlines pilots may find themselves traveling to a new destination. The airline company has recently announced that they are ramping up competition overseas by expanding to London's Heathrow Airport.
The anticipated flights to London are scheduled to depart from Boston and Miami. If approved, flights between the two continents will commence at the end of next March. Delta says their service will benefit consumers by offering more options, which in turn could lead to even more competitive pricing.
Delta notes that slot constraints are a factor in bringing their service to Heathrow Airport.
"Delta's new service would provide more choices and competition for customers traveling between these important U.S. cities and London, one of the most popular destinations in Europe for both business and leisure travelers," said Delta executive vice president of network planning and revenue management Glen Hauenstein.
Heathrow Airport is a major international travelhub. According to the airport, last year almost 66 million passengers arrived and department from the facility. Reportedly over 90 percent of the passengers were international.
