Four people aboard a small plane that crashed into chilly waters off the shores of Nanwalek, Alaska, were able to swim or wade safely to land before they suffered hypothermia.
The Anchorage Daily News reported the Cessna 206 was leaving the village located at the tip of the Kenai Peninsula, and crashed into the English Bay. The pilot and three passengers escaped the plane about 100 feet offshore and made their way to land. The cause of the crash remains unknown, but pilot insurance can be used to help pay for damages associated with plane crashes.
In another recent plane crash no one was hurt as well. But a small plane drifted off the runway at Sheridan County Airport in Wyoming. Sheridan Media reported no one was injured and no damage to the plane resulted from the malfunction, and officials are still investigating what caused the plane to drift off the runway. While the incident caused no significant problems, it illustrates the potential for a flight to go awry. Pilots should invest in pilot insurance to prevent families and loved ones from experiencing a financial burden if something were to go wrong during a flight.
